Maeystown, IL

The entire village sits on the National Register of Historic Places! Hear the amazing story of founder, Jacob Maeys, a German immigrant who walked from Pennsylvania to find fertile ground along the Missississippi river. Maeys established his new Illinois town in 1852, recruiting German immigrants off the boat in St. Louis. His determination and dynamic personality helped lure craftsmen and stone masons to Maeystown, which is surrounded by limestone bluffs.
On May 5, 2013 antique dealers from 11 states will gather in Maeystown for their annual Springfest. German music, food and or course, antiques are on display, as this historic town comes into bloom.
